Spring Cleaning: Beauty Edition

The temps are warming up and you might be cleaning out clutter and giving your house a deep clean. This is also a great time clean out that make-up drawer.
Brushes
Toss all the brushes you no longer use.
Give all your remaining brushes a good bath. Mix 2 parts antibacterial dish soap with 1 part olive oil. Rinse the brushes with warm water then dip them in the soap/oil mixture and rub into a large makeup brush positioned bristle end-up, in a white ceramic jar. in the background there is a windowsill and a potted plantthe brush until the suds are makeup free. Rinse all soap and oil from the brushes and allow to dry. When cleaning and drying the brushes do it with the bristles angled down so the water doesn’t seep into the handle.
After all the brushes are dry get them organized. Some great options are rotating caddy’s or a few short square glass vases filled with a layer of small pebbles in the bottom to help the brushes stand upright.

If you found that after going through the makeup you don’t know when you purchased consider keeping a permanent marker in your make up drawer so you can mark when you opened or write the date the makeup would need to be tossed.
To organize your make up you can use the small glass vases with pebbles or acrylic desk organizers if you keep your makeup in a drawer. Another space saving idea is to mount a cookie sheet or magnetic board and put magnets on back of makeup.
